College Preparation for Students with an Autism Spectrum Disorder
A college preparation course for students with autism or need to build social skills to prepare for college
March 12, 2013 – April 30, 2013
Tuesdays ~ 6PM to 8PM
Westmoreland County Community College (WCCC)
This course will acclimate high school students to the culture, design, and rigor of college. Students who struggle with social cues, socialization or may be diagnosed with an ASD who have the intent or interest to pursue post-secondary education will benefit from this course.
AERI Behavioral Health Services has developed a curriculum that consists of didactic activities and cognitive behavioral techniques specific to college acclimation and skill development.
Sharon Greene, MA, AERI’s Director of Individualized Education Services, and Nicole Jarock, AERI’s Director of Transition and Higher Education Services will co-teach the course.
College Preparation Course at WCCC - Youngwood Campus is designed for:
* Juniors or seniors in high school
* Students who have extended their graduation to age 21
* Students who are serious about post-secondary education
