Trauma Services

AERI and its subsidiaries provides comprehensive care to individuals and families who have been impacted by the effects of trauma. Several clinicians at AERI, including Behavior Specialists, Family Based Mental Health Therapists (within the FBMHS model), and Evaluators have received training in Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavior Therapy (TF-CBT) and other modalities utilized to support those who have a diagnosis related to issues of trauma and/or attachment.

Within our lines of service, but especialy within the family-based model of care, we work closely with families so they can learn how to interact more effectively. It is often hard for families to initiate change, and partner with their team to process very personal issues. Our therapists have learned that individuals often experience unresolved trauma issues as barriers to change.

FBMHS therapists are trained in multiple psychotherapy models. These skills allow therapists to connect with individuals within families to process issues related to past trauma. Past trauma may include witnessing or experiencing domestic violence, maybe an automobile accident, losing a beloved family member or pet, being bullied or harassed at school, in the community or on the internet.

Every individual reacts to significant life events in a unique manner. Issues that may cause someone emotional distressmay be insignificant to others. When stress from a trauma-related incident contributes to our difficulty developing and interacting effectively in any type of relationship, our Trauma Services can help.

When one or more individuals within a family system are experiencing unresolved trauma, there is often a ripple effect within the group. Problems can include physical or verbal aggression towards others, school refusal (truancy), using alcohol or other drugs in excess, or making choices in relationships that yield negative consequences. Other family issues may include difficulty communicating, excessive chaos in the home, or heightened conflict.

If you or any of your family members are experiencing any problems that are contributing to family members not getting along, no matter what solutions that you try ...
