Catherine A. Hughes, Director of Family Support Services
Catherine Hughes is AERI’s Director of Family Support Services. Catherine graduated from Penn State University with an associate's degree in the liberal arts, but it was her experience as proud mother to Christian (her beloved son previously diagnosed on the autism spectrum) that inspired her to enter the behavioral health field in 2003. She has served as a parent liaison as well as a family support coordinator in Pennsylvania. Catherine brings with her a diverse background including delivery of presentations and trainings, development of programs, web content (including social media), newsletters, and coordination of community workshops, advocacy and more. Catherine promotes early intervention for children with autism and related disorders, and for parents to research every avenue, leaving no stone unturned. She encourages families to provide a voice for their children by becoming their strongest advocates.
Catherine and her family are from Allegheny County, Pennsylvania.
“AERI was founded upon a vision for families and their surrounding communities to create positive change. Our team is comprised of passionate professionals with an unstoppable drive who are committed to leading consumers, families, and those blessed to work with or support them on their unique journey. Our staff people with dignity, and always presume intellect. We empathize, we educate, we empower, and we effectively lead others to what they define as success. Together, we truly will find the answers. We won’t stop until we do. As a mother, this determination means the world to me. I will retire with AERI and this incredible team … maybe, when I’m 90.”
